Kathy Miller is an Allegany County native with intimate knowledge of the diverse homes and neighborhoods throughout the region. She has been a licensed real estate salesperson for the last 18 years and holds licenses to practice real estate in both Maryland and West Virginia. Her years of experience have equipped her with the knowledge, compassion, and industry expertise to help her clients feel comfortable throughout the home buying and selling process.
Much of Kathy’s real estate career has been spent working in the bank-owned field, and her primary specialty is assisting lenders in selling properties undergoing foreclosure (also known as “real estate-owned,” or REOs). In addition to selling REO properties, Kathy also has plentiful experience in working with buyers and sellers in standard sale transactions. Over the years, she has completed extensive trainings related to home appraisals, which helps her sellers determine the best price for their homes. When representing buyers, Kathy takes great care to ensure that her buyers receive the proper education about how to purchase an affordable home. She says, “My desire is to make it possible for everyone to have a safe and healthy place to live in a price range they can afford.”
In addition to her years of direct real estate experience, Kathy also has experience in related fields that have contributed to her rich knowledge of the industry as a whole. First, she and her husband, Marty, have spent many years renovating homes and managing rental properties, allowing her to offer unique insight regarding income potential to investor clients. Kathy also has a background in floral/event design and furniture reupholstery, which has given her a good eye for interior staging and exterior curb appeal.
Outside of her professional life, Kathy is genuinely concerned with helping her neighbors and her community. She was the co-founder and president for 8 years of the Allegany County Habitat for Humanity, received the Rising Star Award from the Maryland Association of Realtors (MAR) in 2005 in recognition of her community service and is still involved in many local charities. Kathy even traveled to New Orleans to assist in relief efforts following Hurricane Katrina in 2005. She previously served on the local Board of Realtors for many years in many capacities, including President. She is a graduate of the MAR Leadership Academy and has served on many State Housing Affordability Committees in order to create more affordable housing options and loans for those in need.
Kathy says, “Buying a home, next to getting married and having children, is one of the biggest steps a person takes in life. It should not be scary, and it should be affordable and forever.” Whether you’re looking to buy or sell, give Kathy a call to get the process started!
